Len Harlan

Leonard M. Harlan is non-executive chairman of the Executive Committee of Castle Harlan Inc. and a member of the Investment Committee of CHAMP III Management Pty Ltd, the former Australian affiliate of Castle Harlan. 

Mr. Harlan is currently a director of Gold Star Foods, director emeritus of The America for Bulgaria Foundation established by the U.S. Congress, and formerly a director of over 15 other companies. Mr. Harlan is a member of the Board of Overseers of the Weill Cornell Medical College and the Graduate School of Medical Sciences of Cornell University, co-chairman of the Deans Council Executive Committee, co-chairman of the Clinical Affairs Committee, and a member of the Special Committee on Research, the Business and Finance Committee and the Compensation Committee. 

He is co-chair of the Policy Board of the Cornell Physicians Organization and a member of the Advisory Board of the Healthcare Leadership and Management Scholarship Program. He is a member of the Steering Committee of Cornell Tech, a director of the Voice Health Institute (VHI), the Harvard Business School Club of Greater New York, formerly a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of Harvard Business School, vice president and member of the Executive Committee of the Harvard Business School Alumni Association, and for six years was a member of the Harvard Business School Visiting Committee. 

Mr. Harlan is a member of the Board of Governors of the American Jewish Committee (AJC). He is a director of the Foundation for Art & Preservation in Embassies (FAPE), and co-chair of the New York Region of BENS (Business Executives for National Security). He is President of the Garvan Institute (Australia) U.S. Charitable Trust; a member of the advisory board of the Journal of Private Equity, and was for 25 years a trustee of the New York City Citizens Budget Commission. From 1969 to 1995, he was chairman and chief executive officer of The Harlan Company Inc., a real estate investment banking and advisory firm. A graduate of Cornell University with a Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Mr Harlan has a Masters with Distinction and Doctorate from the Harvard Business School. 

Tom Switzer
Tom Switzer is the executive director of the Centre for Independent Studies, a Sydney-based free-market think tank.

Mr Switzer is a former senior fellow at the University of Sydney’s United States Studies Centre (2009-17), a former editor of the Spectator Australia (2009-14), opinion editor of The Australian (2001-08), editorial writer at the Australian Financial Review (1998-2001) and assistant editor at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, D.C. (1995-98).

He has written for the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, The Spectator, Financial Times, Foreign Affairs, The National Interest, The American Interest and The American Conservative.

He has also appeared on CNN, CNBC Asia/Europe, Bloomberg Television, Al Jazeera (English), Sky News and ABC radio and television.

In 2008 he was senior adviser to former federal Liberal Party Leader Brendan Nelson and in 2009 he was a candidate to replace Nelson in his northern Sydney electoral seat of Bradfield.

He has a BA (Hons) in modern history and a MA in international relations at the University of Sydney.

April Palmerlee

April Palmerlee is Chief Executive Officer of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia. She joined AmCham in October 2017 after a distinguished career in government, education, and the corporate sector.

Most recently, she was a senior executive at the U.S. Studies Centre at the University of Sydney. Mrs Palmerlee has strong relationships with governments, business leaders and the public service in Australia and the U.S.  

American-born, Palmerlee has lived in Sydney since 2003 and is a dual citizen. She received a BS from Georgetown University and a Master’s from Columbia University. She served as Senior Coordinator for International Women’s Issues at the U.S. Department of State. Before that, she was a senior executive at the Council on Foreign Relations in New York.

Palmerlee has also worked for couturier Oscar de la Renta, financial publisher The Bank Credit Analyst, and The Spanish Institute. She is currently on the advisory boards of Centennial Park, NSW Australian-American Fulbright Commission and Georgetown University’s Center for Australian, New Zealand and Pacific Studies
