American Politics Breakfast Roundtable
With Jim Green, Senior Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy at Salesforce
The American Chamber of Commerce in Australia invites you to a breakfast roundtable discussion of American politics as the dust settles after what may be the most consequential Mid-Term Elections in recent U.S. history.
Three weeks after the U.S. Mid-Terms and in the lead-up to the start of the Presidential Election cycle, join us for a breakfast roundtable with Jim Green, Senior Vice President for Government Affairs and Public Policy at Salesforce. The discussion will consider the regional consequences of the new shape of American politics, including for Australian trade and other policy interests.
These elections have also seen unprecedented levels of corporate and civic activism, a trend which has also been reflected in Australian politics in recent years. What does the future political landscape look like with corporations increasingly taking a stance on marriage equality, homelessness, or welfare? In San Francisco, for example, Proposition C aims to increase funding for homelessness services by levying a tax on corporations with annual revenue over $50 million, and large companies have spoken out on both sides.
