Cochlear: Building an Innovative Global Business from Australia
Cochlear is a global success story, which has been built on a partnership of innovation, a global mindset and long-term investment goals.
Continuing investment in research and development of its state-of-the-art hearing aid products and implants, is a key driver in the success of their business. With current investment levels in excess of $160 million annually, Cochlear develops and exports to a world market with a 20 year mindset.
R&D funding is a vital part of the Australian economy and our innovation strategies. US companies invest billions annually, in partnerships with local organisations.
But history is no guarantee of success, and R&D funding is highly mobile in a globally competitive marketplace.
Is Australia as appealing a destination as possible, for research and development funding to continue to flow to our shores?
Hear from Dig Howitt, CEO of Cochlear on how to build an innovative global business from Australia.
Moderated by Professor Roy Green, University of Technology Sydney.
