The US-Australia Alliance must be 'match-fit' for the challenges ahead, said Australian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence Richard Marles to an audience in Washington DC this month.
The rapidly shifting strategic and commercial environment means businesses cannot just be observers; we must all play our role. No sector, industry, or business is insulated from these events. This is the time to engage. We are all on the field.
This was the key takeaway for many delegates from the inaugural AmCham Alliance Summit
in Washington DC. Cyber defences, supply chain resilience, and contingency planning are among the critical areas that have become everyone's responsibility.
Over the coming months, AmCham is giving members the opportunity to engage in high-level B2B and B2G discussions at home and abroad to make sure your business is match-fit. Soon, we'll be returning to Washington, strengthening our trans Tasman bonds in New Zealand, continuing the AUKUS UNLIMITED
roadshow around Australia, and travelling to Israel.
Our fixture of business luncheons across the country continues, as does our engagement with special experts from the United States. Over the last month, AmCham members have heard from newly appointed US Ambassador to Australia Caroline Kennedy, Australian Consul-General to Los Angeles Jane Duke
and Country Consular Coordinator at the US Embassy Elizabeth Power, as well as newly elected Independent MP
Zoe Daniel.

To be truly match-fit, you need to build your team. With AmCham you can get to know your teammates, peers, and even your fans. This month, AmCham Members celebrated the Fourth of July with a star-spangled cast including Her Excellency the Governor of New South Wales
Margaret Beazley AC QC, US Consul-General Christine Elder, AmCham Chairman Dr Brendan Nelson AO, and many other distinguished guests.

The US-Australia Alliance is a formidable team. What keeps the Alliance strong - week-in, week-out - is the unshakeable foundation of trust.
Data from the just-released LOWY Poll indicates the number of Australians who see the ANZUS alliance as important to their security has returned to record highs. Nine in ten Australians now say the alliance is ‘very important’ or ‘fairly important’ to Australia’s security.
This trust transcends politics or pandemics and allows trade and investment to flourish.
If you want to find out how you can be ready to overcome the challenges and
maximise the opportunities ahead, make sure to check
out our upcoming events and join us to hear from Dr Brendan Nelson AO President of Boeing Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific in
Perth, Shayne Elliot CEO of ANZ Bank in Melbourne, and many more.
I look forward to seeing you at our next AmCham event.

AmCham Australia is deeply saddened by the assassination and tragic loss of former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
In a joint statement from the Quad leaders, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, US President Joe Biden, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi recognised the formative role that Prime Minister Abe played in founding the Quad partnership, and his efforts in advancing the shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific.
On behalf of our members, we stand with the people of Japan in their time of sorrow. Vale Prime Minister Abe.

Michele Merdith has worked at
AmCham
for 25 years - a length of time almost unheard of in the today’s world. Her main work has always been as our accountant, but she has fulfilled many other roles as well.
I am sure she has enjoyed some roles more than others, some duties and people more than others as well. But the remarkable thing about Michele is that she undertakes every role with equal commitment, humility and an unwavering work ethic.
Michele’s dedication to the Chamber’s mission and our values is exemplary. She is the kind of colleague anyone would love to have by their side. Members of the Chamber as well as the AmCham staff and Board of Directors acknowledge Michele’s quarter-century of service, and celebrate her continued commitment to the organisation.
