Despite the pressing issues of Ukrainian sovereignty, soaring energy prices, and potential foreign interference in upcoming elections, the Morrison and Biden Administrations were able to meet recently in Melbourne with counterparts from Japan and India to focus attention on the Quad. The summit focused on pressing regional challenges from vaccine distribution to countering economic coercion, while also promoting cooperation on cyber and critical technologies.
During the visit, AmCham staff and board members met with several of the visiting US leaders to strategise on potential trips to Washington and New York in June and September. These trips will be in addition to the long-awaited AmCham-AICC innovation mission to Israel in November under the leadership of Robyn Denholm.

The Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition each had a recent opportunity to pitch their visions to full capacity audiences at the National Press Club. Business, unemployment, wage growth, and emerging from covid were central to both speeches. Earlier this month, AmCham took three virtual delegations to Parliament focusing on health, space, and the digital economy. Dozens of interested members met with Ministers, MPs, and Senators, as well as the Office of the Prime Minister, to discuss key questions and topics.

AmCham members are key stakeholders for many politicians on both sides of the aisle.
