Deanne has more than 25 years’ experience in financial services, both in Australia and overseas. She is an expert in super, wealth and insurance. Before leading Aware Super, Deanne was Chief Executive Officer at MetLife.

Prior to this, she held senior roles at BT, Westpac, Merrill Lynch and McKinsey & Co. During her time as CEO, Deanne has overseen some pivotal moments. She led the successful merger of VicSuper and First State Super in 2020. Deanne also led the launch of our brand, Aware Super. Throughout her time here, Deanne has been a strong advocate for gender equality. She was honoured by the Workplace Gender Equality Agency as a pay equity ambassador in 2019.

Ian joined Australian Retirement Trust in 2015 and is responsible for leading the investment teams that design and implement ART’s highly competitive investment strategies, including maintaining a strong focus on governance. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the institutional investment industry. Prior to joining ART, Ian held the position of Chief Executive Officer at JANA Investment Advisers. He was also Head of Global Equities at JANA and worked previously for Mercer.

 

Ian is an actuary, holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Master of Business Administration, and is a CFA® charterholder. Ian is currently a director of various ART investment subsidiary entities. Ian is also currently a director for Fund Executives Association Limited (since December 2023) and a director for The Investor Group on Climate Change (since May 2023).

 

Ian was previously a director, CFA Society of Sydney Incorporated from January 2018 to March 2024 and a director, Investment Management Consultants Association Australia Limited from November 2008 to September 2016.  

Angela Karl is a senior infrastructure and energy investment leader with nearly 25 years’ experience across investment, advisory, and governance roles, focused on developing and scaling major platforms in energy and decarbonisation in Australia and globally.

She is a Managing Director at Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), part of BlackRock, based in Australia. Angela is also a Director of Akaysha Energy, Australia’s largest battery storage owner and operator, and a Board Member of the Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA).

Previously, she was a Partner at QIC Global Infrastructure for over a decade, where she helped grow its energy and utilities portfolio, leading the origination, establishment, and management of several major energy transition businesses. Her roles included founding director positions at Tilt Renewables, Lochard Energy, Epic Energy, and leadership roles across Pacific Energy, PowerCo, and QIC’s Infrastructure Investment Committee.

Marcia Cameron is Head of Real Assets, Direct at Rest, where she leads the origination, structuring and execution of co-investment and direct investment opportunities, as well as the management of the fund’s directly owned real assets portfolio. Marcia has more than 20 years of experience across infrastructure investing, asset management, mergers and acquisitions, capital management, public private partnerships and impact investing, gained across both the public and private sectors in Australia and internationally.

Prior to joining Rest, Marcia was an Investment Director within the Infrastructure team at AustralianSuper, where she was responsible for asset management and portfolio oversight activities across infrastructure investments and served as a nominee director on a number of direct investments. Earlier in her career, she held senior roles with NSW Treasury and leading global financial institutions including Deutsche Bank, Citi, Barclays Capital and GE Capital.

Marcia brings extensive experience across the investment lifecycle, with particular expertise in infrastructure investing, asset management, governance and long-term value creation. She is a regular participant in industry discussions on critical infrastructure, energy transition and private markets investing. 

As National Australia Bank's Global Executive of Fund Sponsors, Strategic Investors and Alternative Assets, Sarah Elliott leads a global team covering Funds, Superannuation Funds & Financial Sponsors, Energy Utilities & Infrastructure, Resources, and Institutional Real Estate sectors, across Australia, North America, London, Paris, and Asia. Whilst she is based in Sydney, she previously worked with NAB in New York for 7 years and worked as the North American Head of Client Coverage. Sarah has dedicated the last 11 years to NAB, following a 9-year tenure in law at Mallesons.

Sarah Elliott’s hold a Bachelor of Laws (Hons 1) through the University of Sydney as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Hons 1) through the University of Newcastle, complemented by professional certifications in business and finance.
