Hon Jaclyn Symes MP
Treasurer of Victoria; Minister for Industrial Relations; Minister for Regional Development
Parliament of Victoria
Jaclyn Symes grew up in Benalla and studied law at Deakin University, becoming a practicing lawyer in 2006. Early in her career, she worked as a carer for people with intellectual disabilities and later joined the Australian Services Union as an Industrial Officer. Driven by a desire to shape policy, she became an advisor to the Bracks/Brumby Government and later to Opposition Leader Daniel Andrews.
Elected to the Victorian Parliament in 2014, Jaclyn has held senior portfolios including Agriculture, Regional Development, Resources, Attorney-General, and Emergency Services. In 2024, she was appointed Treasurer, Minister for Industrial Relations, and Minister for Regional Development, while continuing as Leader of the Government in the Legislative Council.
Jaclyn is a passionate advocate for social justice, regional growth, and ensuring all Victorians have a fair go.
