Rob Scott, Managing Director
Wesfarmers 2020 and Beyond!
Please join us to hear recently appointed Managing Director of Wesfarmers Rob Scott discuss his approach to taking the reins of Australia’s largest diversified conglomerate, and his thoughts on the dynamic markets in which Australian business operates.
Rob’s first stint at Wesfarmers began in 1993, and after spending time in investment banking he rejoined the company in 2004 where he has held a range of senior executive roles including Finance Director of Coles and Managing Director of Wesfarmers’ Insurance Division. He was appointed as the eighth Managing Director of Wesfarmers in its 104 year history at the company’s AGM in November 2017.
After six months in the role he will give an update on his key priorities including the demerger of Coles, a once-in-a-decade repositioning of the Wesfarmers portfolio. Beyond portfolio management, Rob will discuss his key focus areas to deliver long-term returns: ensuring that Wesfarmers nurtures great teams & talent, encourages entrepreneurial initiative, and builds on existing data & digital capability. He will touch on the importance of ensuring policy settings that provide a level playing field for Australian businesses which compete in increasingly global markets, and will discuss the Wesfarmers approach to creating value for all stakeholders – customers, employees, suppliers, and communities.
