Clay Berry, Managing Director, Head of Global Engagement, J.P. Morgan (US)
Clay Berry is the Head of Global Engagement, managing the international government relations and global engagement teams at J.P. Morgan. Clay joined the firm in 2020 after more than 15 years at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, where she held senior career positions in both International Affairs and Domestic Finance. She was the Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia, managing the Department’s engagement across the region, and was Acting Assistant Secretary for Financial Markets, with responsibility for U.S. Treasury debt management policy, capital markets and public finance.
Previously Clay was the Chief Economist for Europe at the Institute of International Finance, leading IIF’s research and analysis on emerging Europe and Eurasia. Clay also served as the U.S. Treasury Financial Attaché in Moscow, Russia. She held director positions at the U.S. Treasury focusing on a number of key international economic priorities, including managing Treasury’s participation in the G-7 and the G-20. Prior to joining the U.S. Treasury in 2003, Clay worked in the Markets Group at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and was a consultant at the World Bank.
Clay holds a Masters in International Affairs from Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs and a B.A. from Bowdoin College.
Tom Switzer, Executive Director, Centre for Independent Studies
Tom Switzer is the Executive Director at the Centre for Independent Studies.
He is a former senior fellow at the University of Sydney’s United States Studies Centre (2009-17), a former editor of the Spectator Australia (2009-14), senior federal Liberal leader adviser/speech writer (2008), opinion editor of The Australian, (2001-08), editorial writer at the Australian Financial Review (1998-01) and assistant editor at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington, DC (1995-98).
He has written for the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, The Spectator, Financial Times, Foreign Affairs, The National Interest, The American Interest and The American Conservative. He has also appeared on CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, Al Jazeera, Sky News, SBS, Seven, Nine, Ten and ABC radio and television. He hosts Between the Lines on the ABC’s Radio National.
Jason Steed, Head of Equity Research, Australia, J.P. Morgan
Jason Steed is J.P. Morgan's Head of Equity Research for Australia. In addition, he leads the firms Australian Equity Strategy team.
Jason joined J.P. Morgan in 2008 to lead coverage of the Australian Utilities sector. In 2009, he added coverage of Building Materials and Steel. Over 2010-15, Jason was consistently ranked in the top-3 by Peter Lee and other surveys for Utilities and Building Materials. In 2013, he was ranked Australia's #1 sell-side analyst across all sectors in the East Coles Survey.
